Syracuse, NY Live Event and Concert Drones

Live event drones in Syracuse

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Syracuse. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Syracuse, NY drone videographer page.

The JMA Wireless Dome

Our crew flew live drone feeds for TV and the video board for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. The JMA Wireless Dome is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Indoor work inside the dome needs the university's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

State Fair and festivals

The New York State Fairgrounds ban drones without the Fair's approval, and commercial pilots need a Fair UAS operations permit requested at least five business days ahead. Downtown festivals are flown inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. New York State Parks require a prior written permit to launch, land or fly a drone on park property, and commercial filming goes through the State Parks film permit process.

Airport and military sites

Syracuse Hancock International sits under Class C airspace, and downtown is inside its surface area. Hancock Field Air National Guard Base at the airport is a federal no-drone area, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. Restricted airspace near Oswego can be activated by notice, and Fort Drum to the north has restricted airspace. We check every Syracuse location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly at the JMA Wireless Dome on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.

Can you fly at the State Fair?

Only with the Fair's approval. Commercial pilots need a Fair UAS operations permit requested at least five business days ahead.

Do Syracuse events need FAA authorization?

Downtown, yes. It is inside the airport's Class C surface area, so we file LAANC first.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
