FPV drone pilot in San Diego
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in San Diego for conventions, concerts, stadium events, venue fly-throughs and live feeds. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our San Diego, CA drone videographer page.
Petco Park, Snapdragon Stadium and Pechanga Arena
Pechanga Arena and the city's hotels, theaters and convention halls suit indoor FPV with the venue's approval, including brand activations around Comic-Con at the San Diego Convention Center. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Petco Park, home of the Padres, is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Snapdragon Stadium, home of San Diego State football and San Diego FC, lists drones among prohibited items, so any flight there happens inside an approved production. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
City filming with drones
The City of San Diego's Special Events and Filming Department reviews drone filming on city property. Its checklist asks for a signed filming registration form, FAA registration, a Part 107 remote pilot certificate with any waivers, a written plan of activities with dates, times, aircraft and a map, and drone liability coverage of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence with an endorsement naming the City of San Diego as additional insured. We file it for every shoot that uses city property, including city parks.
Airspace
San Diego International sits close to downtown inside Class B airspace, and military airfields such as Naval Air Station North Island and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar are part of the metro, so LAANC or FAA authorization is often needed. We check every San Diego location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. Our crew has flown the Outside Lands aerial livestream since 2023 and plans outdoor shows here the same way.
California privacy
California privacy law makes it an invasion of privacy to enter the airspace above someone's land without permission to capture private or family activity, so we keep homes, yards and people who have not agreed to be filmed out of frame. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs
Do you need a city permit to fly a drone on San Diego city property?
Yes. The Special Events and Filming Department needs a filming registration, Part 107 and FAA paperwork, a flight plan and drone coverage naming the city.
Can you fly near Petco Park on game days?
Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.
Can you fly FPV inside Pechanga Arena?
Only with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting. We fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.
Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?
Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
