FPV drone pilot in Denver

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Denver for concerts, arena and stadium events, venue fly-throughs and live feeds. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Denver, CO drone videographer page.

Ball Arena and the stadiums

Ball Arena, home of the Nuggets and Avalanche, and the city's theaters, hotels and event spaces suit indoor FPV with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Empower Field at Mile High and Coors Field are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

City parks and Red Rocks

Denver Parks and Recreation rules do not allow drones in a park facility. For film work, the city requires a Film Operational Permit for any drone takeoff or landing on public property, plus a separate right-of-way permit when the launch is in a street or sidewalk, with the pilot certificate, FAA registration and aviation liability insurance filed with the application. The city also prohibits drones in Denver Mountain Parks, including Red Rocks Park, and in City Park, so we do not fly at Red Rocks and plan those shows with ground cameras instead.

Altitude, airspace and festivals

At about a mile above sea level, thinner air cuts thrust and flight time, so we build extra battery margin into every FPV line. Our crew flies EDC Las Vegas as a three-pilot drone team and has flown the Outside Lands aerial livestream since 2023, and we plan festivals here with the promoter the same way. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. We check every Denver location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Colorado rules

We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job. State park and federal land rules outside the city are checked case by case before any flight.

FAQs

Can you fly a drone in a Denver park?

Not for general use. Park rules do not allow drones in a park facility, and film work needs a Film Operational Permit for any takeoff or landing on public property.

Can you fly a drone at Red Rocks?

No. The city prohibits drones in Denver Mountain Parks, including Red Rocks Park, so we plan concert coverage there with ground cameras.

Can you fly FPV inside Ball Arena?

Only with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting. We fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
