FPV drone pilot in Minneapolis

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Minneapolis for arena shows, stadium events, venue fly-throughs and live feeds. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Minneapolis, MN drone videographer page.

Target Center, First Avenue and indoor venues

Target Center, home of the Timberwolves and Lynx, First Avenue and the city's theaters and hotels suit indoor FPV with the venue's approval. Our crew flew drones inside Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle to film Paramore's 2023 show, and plans arena work the same way. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

U.S. Bank Stadium and Target Field

U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Vikings, and Target Field, home of the Twins, are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly stadium work only inside an approved production and can send the feed live to the video board; see Live drone feeds for video boards.

Minneapolis park permits

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board requires a permit for all drone flight from, within and on its property, and reviews requests case by case. Applications should arrive at least 10 days ahead with a site plan and detailed flight plan, drone insurance, the FAA pilot certificate and the drone registration. The fee is $100 per day and location, with $1,500,000 of general liability coverage listing the board as additional insured, and commercial filming can need a separate filming permit. We check every Minneapolis location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. MSP's Class B airspace covers much of the city.

State and local rules

We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job. State park and other public land rules outside the city are checked case by case.

Yes. The Park and Recreation Board requires a permit for all drone flight from, within and on its property, at $100 per day and location.

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Only with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting. We fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
