Omaha, NE Drone Videographer and Operator

Golf, sports and events

Our crew flew live broadcast drone work for the T-Mobile 5G Range Show at the 2024 PGA Championship; read the PGA Championship case study. Omaha has no venues on the FAA stadium list, though Memorial Stadium in Lincoln is on it, and big events such as the College World Series can bring temporary flight restrictions, so we check NOTAMs for event dates. For tournaments, concerts and games we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Offutt and federal sites

Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, just south of Omaha, and the Marine Corps reserve center in Omaha are federal no-drone areas around the clock, and Offutt's airfield has its own controlled airspace, so we plan south-metro shoots carefully.

Nebraska parks and local rules

Nebraska Game and Parks does not allow drones in state parks, state historical parks, recreation areas or wildlife management areas without a special occasion permit, applied for at least 30 days ahead, and drones must not be used to chase or disturb wildlife. City park and event permits come from the City of Omaha and the event organizer, so we check them before any public-space shoot. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Airspace

Eppley Airfield, about 3 miles northeast of downtown, has Class C airspace, so many central Omaha addresses need LAANC, while Millard Airport in southwest Omaha has no control tower. We check every Omaha location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly near Offutt Air Force Base?

No. Offutt Air Force Base is a federal no-drone area from the surface to 400 feet, so we plan Bellevue and south Omaha shoots well clear of it.

Can you fly in Nebraska state parks?

Only with a Game and Parks special occasion permit, applied for at least 30 days ahead. Drones are otherwise not allowed in state parks, recreation areas or wildlife management areas.

Can you film around the College World Series?

Only with the event's approval and outside any temporary flight restriction. We check NOTAMs for event dates and plan shots with the organizer.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Omaha?

It depends on the address. Eppley Airfield has Class C airspace. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
