We fly Badgers game days, arena concerts, Capitol Square festivals, Alliant Energy Center events, corporate and campus projects, construction progress and real estate across Madison and Dane County. Truax Field and the Air Guard

Dane County Regional Airport, Truax Field, has Class C airspace from the surface to 4,900 feet within 5 miles, which takes in much of north and east Madison. The Wisconsin Air National Guard's 115th Fighter Wing flies F-35s from the airport, and flying over the base is not allowed without the installation commander's approval, even with an FAA authorization. We check every Madison location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Camp Randall and UW venues

Camp Randall Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Flights on University of Wisconsin-Madison property need the university's written permission, so we arrange campus shoots well ahead. Inside the Kohl Center we fly small drones with the venue's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Wisconsin drone law and parks

Wisconsin law makes it a misdemeanor to use a drone to observe someone where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy, bars flying over a prison or jail without authorization, and since 2026 bars flying over school property during school hours or school-approved events without the school's permission. Wisconsin DNR rules prohibit drones in state parks, state recreation areas, state natural areas and some state forests unless an area is posted for drone use or the property manager issues a permit, and commercial filming on state land needs a commercial use permit. City of Madison parks allow drones unless a park is posted otherwise, under the city's drone ordinance and FAA rules.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Madison?

It depends on the address. Truax Field has Class C airspace over much of north and east Madison. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can you fly near the 115th Fighter Wing?

No. Flying over the Air Guard base at Truax Field needs the installation commander's approval, even with an FAA airspace authorization.

Can you fly near Camp Randall Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you fly in Wisconsin state parks?

Only where an area is posted for drone use or the property manager issues a permit. DNR rules otherwise prohibit drones.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
