We fly arena shows, downtown festivals, college sports, corporate campuses, construction progress and real estate across Des Moines and Central Iowa. Airport and Jack Trice Stadium
Des Moines International sits under Class C airspace south of downtown, and we keep clear of the Iowa Air National Guard base at the airport. Jack Trice Stadium in Ames is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We check every Des Moines location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
Iowa State Fair and arenas
The Iowa State Fair lists drones among the items not allowed at the fair, so any aerial work there has to be arranged with the Fair itself. Inside Wells Fargo Arena and other venues we fly small drones with the venue's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Iowa drone law and state parks
Iowa law makes it an offense to fly a drone over someone's homestead or farmstead without consent in some situations, with exceptions for commercial flights that follow FAA rules. Iowa's state park rules do not set out a specific drone ban, so we confirm with the park manager before any flight in a state park. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Des Moines?
It depends on the address. Des Moines International has Class C airspace south of downtown. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.
Can you fly at the Iowa State Fair?
Not as a visitor. The Fair does not allow drones, so any aerial coverage has to be approved by the Fair in advance.

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
