Vail/Breckenridge

FPV drone pilot in Vail and Breckenridge

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Vail and Breckenridge for lodge, hotel and home fly-throughs, real estate and hospitality films and event content. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Vail/Breckenridge, CO drone videographer page.

Lodges, hotels and homes

Lodges, hotels and homes in Vail Village, Lionshead, Breckenridge and across Summit County suit real estate and hospitality films, filmed with the owner's approval. Our crew has flown one-take interior fly-throughs of more than 15 Charleston-area hotels for Vive Media. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Vail/Breckenridge, CO live event drones.

Vail Resorts drone rules

Vail Resorts prohibits drones above or within any property it owns or operates, including ski terrain on Forest Service land and flights launched from outside its boundaries, except with the resort's written permission for certain licensed commercial purposes. We fly Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone only with that permission and any Forest Service approval. Wildfire and other hazard TFRs close the airspace to drones with little notice, so we check NOTAMs again on the day of every flight. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.

Eagles Nest, Holy Cross and Colorado rules

Eagles Nest and Holy Cross Wilderness in White River National Forest are designated wilderness, where the Forest Service does not allow drones to take off or land. Colorado has no statewide drone preemption law, so cities, counties, open space agencies and ski resorts set their own rules, and state law makes using a drone to obstruct police, firefighters or other first responders a crime. Town rules also apply, so we check with Vail and Breckenridge before any public-space shoot. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed. Eagle County Regional, about 4 miles west of Eagle, has a control tower, and mountain weather and rescue helicopters set the pace here, so we check every Vail and Breckenridge location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
