We fly festivals, resorts, golf, mid-century homes and desert brand shoots from Palm Springs to Indio. For festivals and resort events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.
Festival flight restrictions
Coachella at the Empire Polo Club in Indio has had a temporary flight restriction over the festival, so drone work there is arranged through the festival and its broadcast team. We check NOTAMs for every festival weekend before quoting nearby shoots. Indio also has its own special event rules, which we confirm with the city.
Airports, bases and wilderness
Palm Springs International has its own control tower east of downtown, and Jacqueline Cochran Regional in Thermal has FAA drone altitude limits around it. Twentynine Palms, March Air Reserve Base and the Chocolate Mountain range are farther out and are federal no-drone areas, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. Joshua Tree is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. The San Jacinto and Santa Rosa wilderness areas in the San Bernardino National Forest are designated wilderness, where the Forest Service does not allow drones to take off or land. We check every Coachella Valley location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
Parks, tribal land and privacy
Mount San Jacinto State Park at the top of the tram follows State Parks rules. California State Parks allow drones unless a park has posted an order banning them, and commercial filming in a state park needs a State Parks permit through the California Film Commission, with drone paperwork filed ahead of the shoot. The Indian Canyons are on Agua Caliente tribal land, so we get the tribe's approval first. California privacy law makes it an invasion of privacy to enter the airspace above someone's land without permission to capture private or family activity, so we keep homes, yards and people who have not agreed to be filmed out of frame.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Palm Springs?
It depends on the address. Palm Springs International has a control tower close to downtown, and festival weekends can bring flight restrictions. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.
Can you fly at Coachella?
Only as part of the festival's approved media plan. The festival has had a temporary flight restriction, so we work with the event team and check NOTAMs.
Can you fly in Joshua Tree?
Not inside the national park, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited. We shoot desert scenes from private land or other approved sites outside the park.
Do you film golf resorts and homes?
Yes. We fly resort, golf and real estate shoots with the owner's permission and keep neighbors out of frame under California privacy law.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
