Santa Barbara
FPV drone pilot in Santa Barbara
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Santa Barbara for resort and estate fly-throughs, Bowl concerts, festivals and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Santa Barbara, CA drone videographer page.
Resorts, hotels and estates
Our crew flew an indoor micro-drone fly-through of the Tempo by Hilton hotel in Times Square, through its lobbies and rooms. Luxury resorts, hotels and estate weddings suit one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Concerts and festivals
Concerts at the Santa Barbara Bowl are flown only with the venue's approval, after checking for flight restrictions. Festivals are flown inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Santa Barbara, CA live event drones.
Airspace, islands and parks
Santa Barbara Airport in Goleta has Class C airspace from the surface to 4,000 feet around the airport, taking in Goleta and UCSB. Vandenberg Space Force Base up the coast has restricted military airspace, so coastal shoots stay well clear of it. Channel Islands National Park is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. California State Parks allow drones unless a park has posted an order banning them, and commercial filming in a state park needs a State Parks permit through the California Film Commission, with drone paperwork filed ahead of the shoot. We check every Santa Barbara location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
