Outer Banks
FPV drone pilot in the Outer Banks
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in the Outer Banks for vacation rental fly-throughs, beach weddings, resort and tourism films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Outer Banks, NC drone videographer page.
Rentals, weddings and tourism
Our crew flew drone coverage at Austin City Limits in Zilker Park for the festival's Hulu live broadcast. We fly beach weddings, vacation rental and oceanfront real estate, resorts, events, fishing tournaments and tourism content across Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo. For beach weddings and rentals we check the town's beach rules and keep guests and neighbors who have not agreed to be filmed out of frame. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Outer Banks, NC live event drones.
National park land and Jockey's Ridge
Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site are National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head does not allow drones without a special use permit from the park. North Carolina state parks need written permission or a special use permit for drone flights. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first.
Dare County airspace and state rules
First Flight Airport and Dare County Regional Airport have no control tower. The Dare County bombing range on the mainland across the sound is restricted military airspace, some of it starting at the surface, so we keep flights well clear of it. We check every Outer Banks location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.

FAQs
Can you fly FPV through a vacation rental?
Yes, with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules.
Can you fly at Cape Hatteras National Seashore?
Not without the superintendent's written approval. Drones may not launch or land on National Park Service land, so we plan beach aerials from other sites.
Do you need a state permit to fly commercially in North Carolina?
No longer. The state permit law was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.
Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?
Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
