FPV drone pilot in Fort Lauderdale

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Fort Lauderdale for yacht and boat show content, hotel and venue fly-throughs, concerts and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Fort Lauderdale, FL drone videographer page. For Miami work see our Miami FPV drone pilot page.

Yachts, Las Olas and the Intracoastal

Our crew filmed Megan Thee Stallion's set at Rolling Loud Miami 2021 with a micro FPV drone. Las Olas, the Intracoastal, the marinas and the beachfront hotels suit FPV that follows a yacht or moves from the water into a lobby in one take, flown with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Concerts and boat shows

For concerts, festivals and boat shows we fly FPV inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Fort Lauderdale, FL live event drones.

Port Everglades and Florida law

Florida Statute 330.41 bars drone flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, water plants, seaports, airports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents in writing, and it bars flights over K-12 schools, so we plan routes around both. Port Everglades and the fuel terminals around it fall under that law. Florida's drone privacy law protects people on private property who cannot be seen from the ground, so we keep neighbors out of frame or get their consent.

Airspace

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, 3 miles southwest of downtown, has a control tower, and Fort Lauderdale Executive, 5 miles north, is towered too, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Fort Lauderdale location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly FPV around a yacht or marina?

Yes, with the owner's approval and a rehearsed line. We keep clear of people who have not agreed to be filmed.

Are there Florida laws on where drones can fly?

Yes. Florida law bars flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, seaports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents, and it bars flights over K-12 schools.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Fort Lauderdale?

It depends on the address. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and Fort Lauderdale Executive are both towered. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
