Fan festivals and the Parkway

Our crew flew five days of live coverage, live to FOX, at the FIFA Fan Festival Atlanta, and plans fan events here the same way. Philadelphia Parks and Recreation regulations bar flying or launching drones and other aircraft at any park and recreation facility, which includes Fairmount Park and the park space along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, with a minimum fine of $300 per day. Permission to use an aircraft there goes through the city's Office of Emergency Management, so we apply through it before any park or Parkway event. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.

Xfinity Mobile Arena concerts

Xfinity Mobile Arena, known as the Wells Fargo Center until its 2025 renaming, is home to the 76ers and Flyers and hosts major concerts. Indoor flights at the arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.

The South Philadelphia stadiums

Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly stadium shows only inside an approved production. The airport's Class B airspace covers much of the city. We check every Philadelphia location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. Pennsylvania drone law

Pennsylvania law makes it an offense to use a drone to surveil someone in a private place, to put someone in reasonable fear of bodily injury or to deliver contraband, and since 2018 it has barred cities and towns from regulating drone operation. Rules for city-owned land, such as park regulations, still apply. Pennsylvania DCNR allows drones in state parks only at designated flying sites in six parks, including Benjamin Rush State Park in Philadelphia and Hillman State Park west of Pittsburgh, and commercial filming on DCNR land needs prior written authorization.

FAQs

Can you fly a drone at a Parkway or Fairmount Park event?

Only with city permission. Park regulations bar drones at park facilities, and permission goes through the Office of Emergency Management, so we apply there first.

Can you fly at a concert inside Xfinity Mobile Arena?

Only with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting. We fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.

Can Philadelphia pass its own drone rules for events?

Not for drone operation. Pennsylvania law has barred local drone ordinances since 2018, but city park rules and event permits still apply.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
