Philadelphia

FPV drone pilot in Philadelphia

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Philadelphia for arena and stadium events, video board feeds, venue fly-throughs and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Philadelphia, PA drone videographer page.

Xfinity Mobile Arena and indoor venues

Xfinity Mobile Arena, known as the Wells Fargo Center until its 2025 renaming, is home to the 76ers and Flyers. It and the city's theaters, ballrooms and convention spaces suit indoor FPV with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

The South Philadelphia stadiums

Lincoln Financial Field and Citizens Bank Park are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly stadium work only inside an approved production and can send the feed live to the video board; see Live drone feeds for video boards. Our crew flew five days of live coverage, live to FOX, at the FIFA Fan Festival Atlanta, and plans fan events the same way.

City parks and the Parkway

Philadelphia Parks and Recreation regulations bar flying or launching drones and other aircraft at any park and recreation facility, which includes Fairmount Park and the park space along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and set a minimum fine of $300 per day. Permission to use an aircraft there goes through the city's Office of Emergency Management, so we apply through it before any park or Parkway event. We check every Philadelphia location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. The airport's Class B airspace covers much of the city.

Pennsylvania drone law

Pennsylvania law makes it an offense to use a drone to surveil someone in a private place, to put someone in reasonable fear of bodily injury or to deliver contraband, and since 2018 it has barred cities and towns from regulating drone operation. Rules for city-owned land, such as park regulations, still apply. Pennsylvania DCNR allows drones in state parks only at designated flying sites in six parks, including Benjamin Rush State Park in Philadelphia and Hillman State Park west of Pittsburgh, and commercial filming on DCNR land needs prior written authorization.

FAQs

Can you fly a drone in Fairmount Park?

Only with city permission. Park regulations bar drones at park facilities, and permission goes through the Office of Emergency Management, so we apply there first.

Can you fly FPV inside Xfinity Mobile Arena?

Only with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting. We fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.

Can the city of Philadelphia pass its own drone rules?

Not for drone operation. Pennsylvania law has barred local drone ordinances since 2018, but city park rules and event permits still apply.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
