Live event drones in Kiawah Island
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Kiawah Island. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Kiawah Island, SC drone videographer page.
Golf events and the Ocean Course
Our crew flew live broadcast drone work for the T-Mobile 5G Range Show at the 2024 PGA Championship. The Ocean Course hosted the PGA Championship in 2012 and 2021, and tournament drone work is set with the organizer and the resort as part of the event's approved broadcast or media plan. For golf and resort events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Community rules and beaches
The Kiawah Island Community Association does not allow drones on, over or around the island without written notice to and consent from its security or operations leadership, and violations carry fines, so we get that consent in writing before any shoot. Commercial business on the town's beach needs a Town of Kiawah Island license, sea turtle nesting season runs from May through October, and Charleston County Parks prohibits drones at Beachwalker Park. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Airspace near Charleston
Charleston Executive Airport on Johns Island has no control tower, and Charleston International's Class C airspace lies to the north, so most Kiawah addresses fall outside it. South Carolina's Act 150, set to take effect January 1, 2027, makes it a crime to knowingly fly within 1,500 feet of a military installation or a prison or jail without written permission, so we plan routes around those sites. We check every Kiawah Island location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs
Do you need permission to fly on Kiawah Island?
Yes. The Kiawah Island Community Association requires written notice and consent before drones fly on, over or around the island, and we get it before every shoot.
Can you fly at the Ocean Course during a tournament?
Only as part of the event's approved broadcast or media plan. Tournament drone work is set with the organizer and the resort.
Can you fly at Beachwalker Park?
No. Charleston County Parks prohibits drones there, so we plan beach aerials with the Town and community approvals instead.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
