Live event drones in Denver
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Denver. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Denver, CO drone videographer page.
Festival livestreams
Our crew has flown the aerial livestream at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco since 2023, and plans festival livestreams here the same way, with the promoter, the stage manager and the stream director agreeing every shot. At about a mile above sea level, thinner air cuts thrust and flight time, so we carry extra batteries and build margin into each flight. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.
City permits, parks and Red Rocks
Denver park rules do not allow drones in a park facility, and for filmed events the city requires a Film Operational Permit for any drone takeoff or landing on public property, plus a separate permit when the launch is in a street or sidewalk. The pilot certificate, FAA registration and aviation liability insurance are filed with the application. Drones are prohibited in Denver Mountain Parks, including Red Rocks Park, and in City Park, so Red Rocks concerts are covered without drones.
Ball Arena and the stadiums
Ball Arena, home of the Nuggets and Avalanche, hosts concerts where we fly with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at the arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Empower Field at Mile High and Coors Field are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We check every Denver location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. FAQs
Can you fly a drone at a Red Rocks concert?
No. The city prohibits drones in Denver Mountain Parks, including Red Rocks Park, so we cover those shows with ground and stage cameras.
Do Denver events need a city permit for drones?
Yes, when the drone takes off or lands on public property. The city requires a Film Operational Permit, plus a separate permit for launches in the street.
Can you fly at Empower Field at Mile High or Coors Field on event days?
Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
