Live event drones in Phoenix
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Phoenix. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Phoenix, AZ drone videographer page.
Ticketed events since September 2026
Arizona's SB 1160, effective September 12, 2026, makes it a class 1 misdemeanor to intentionally fly a commercial drone within 5,280 feet of, or 5,280 feet above, a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event held outdoors, under a retractable roof or in a venue for 1,000 or more people, unless someone with authority over the event gives written consent or another exception applies, such as a flight within FAA authorization or rules. The statute also carves out operations that follow an FAA authorization, but we get the event's written consent anyway. For every concert, game or festival in the Valley, that written consent from the venue or promoter is part of our booking paperwork.
Mortgage Matchup Center, Chase Field and State Farm Stadium
Mortgage Matchup Center, the downtown arena of the Suns and Mercury, took that name in October 2025 after years as Footprint Center. Chase Field and State Farm Stadium in Glendale both have retractable roofs. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Chase Field and State Farm Stadium are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Our crew flew sub-100-gram livestream drones for UNITY at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with the live feed shown on its immersive screen, and runs big-screen feeds the same way. Airspace and city rules
Downtown Phoenix sits under Sky Harbor's Class B airspace. We check every Phoenix location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. State law, A.R.S. 13-3729, bars cities and counties from writing their own drone ordinances, with limited room for rules on model aircraft takeoffs and landings in city parks, so film, event and venue permits are where local approvals happen.
More Arizona rules
Arizona law makes it a felony to photograph or loiter over a critical facility, such as a power plant, substation, water plant, dam, rail yard, prison or military site, in furtherance of a crime, and a misdemeanor to fly in violation of FAA rules or in the way of police, firefighters or emergency crews.

FAQs
Does Arizona law limit drones at ticketed events?
Yes. Since September 12, 2026, flying a commercial drone within 5,280 feet of a gated ticketed event without written consent is a class 1 misdemeanor, so we get consent first.
Can Phoenix pass its own drone rules for events?
Mostly no. Arizona law bars city drone ordinances, but park, film and event permits still apply, so we check them with the city and the organizer.
Can you fly at Chase Field or State Farm Stadium on event days?
Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
