Boulder, CO Live Event and Concert Drones

Live event drones in Boulder

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Boulder. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Boulder, CO drone videographer page.

Concerts and races

Our crew has flown the Life is Beautiful festival in downtown Las Vegas. Boulder concerts, races and festivals suit the same coverage inside the organizer's plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Folsom Field

Folsom Field is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly game days only inside an approved production.

Open space, parks and airspace

The City of Boulder does not allow drones to launch, land or operate on its Open Space and Mountain Parks land, which includes the Flatirons, apart from approved research, rescue and public safety uses. Colorado has no statewide drone preemption law, so cities, counties, open space agencies and ski resorts set their own rules, and state law makes using a drone to obstruct police, firefighters or other first responders a crime. Boulder Municipal Airport has no control tower, and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan, about 10 miles southeast, is towered, so some addresses need LAANC. We check every Boulder location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly at Folsom Field on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.

Can you fly an event over the Flatirons?

Not from city open space. Boulder does not allow drones to launch, land or operate on Open Space and Mountain Parks land.

What permits do you need for an event in Boulder?

It depends on the venue. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job and get the organizer's written approval.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
