For events and brand activations we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. Ski resort drone rules

Park City Mountain bans drones on or above its property, even when launched from outside, without the resort's written permission for approved commercial work. Deer Valley also bans drones without prior written authorization. Resort shoots are arranged with the resort first. Utah Olympic Park and other venues set their own approval rules. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Parks, forest, state law and airspace

Utah State Parks require the park manager's written permission, carried while flying, and commercial work needs a special use permit. That covers Jordanelle and Wasatch Mountain state parks. The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest includes designated wilderness, where the Forest Service does not allow drones to take off or land. Utah law requires prior authorization to fly over critical infrastructure such as power, water and rail facilities, and flying into a wildfire flight restriction carries state penalties on top of FAA rules. Heber Valley Airport sits south of town, and Salt Lake City's Class B airspace lies to the west. We check every Park City location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly at Park City Mountain or Deer Valley?

Only with the resort's written permission. Both resorts ban drones over their property without it, so we arrange resort shoots with the resort.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Park City?

It depends on the address. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Do you fly in winter?

Yes. We plan winter shoots around cold, wind and battery limits and confirm the venue's rules first.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
