Columbus, OH FPV Drone Pilot and Operator

FPV drone pilot in Columbus

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Columbus for college and pro game days, arena events, video board feeds and venue fly-throughs. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Columbus, OH drone videographer page.

Ohio Stadium and game day

Ohio Stadium, home of Ohio State football, is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Our crew flew live drone feeds for TV and the video board for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park, and we send stadium feeds live the same way, only inside an approved production; see Live drone feeds for video boards.

Nationwide Arena and ScottsMiracle-Gro Field

Nationwide Arena, home of the Blue Jackets, the Schottenstein Center and the city's theaters and convention spaces suit indoor FPV with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. ScottsMiracle-Gro Field, the downtown home of the Columbus Crew that opened in 2021 as Lower.com Field, took its new name for the 2026 season and seats about 20,800. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

City parks and airspace

Columbus Recreation and Parks filming guidance says anyone flying a drone for filming must meet all FAA requirements and that flying drones directly over any person is prohibited, so we keep flight paths clear of park visitors. We check every Columbus location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. John Glenn Columbus International is surrounded by Class C airspace.

State and local rules

We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly near Ohio Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

No. Columbus Recreation and Parks filming guidance prohibits flying drones directly over any person, and every flight must meet FAA rules.

Can you fly FPV inside Nationwide Arena?

Only with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting. We fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
