Ann Arbor, MI FPV Drone Pilot and Operator

FPV drone pilot in Ann Arbor

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Ann Arbor for arena and festival content, venue and office fly-throughs and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Ann Arbor, MI drone videographer page.

Festivals and venues

Our crew flew a one-take micro-drone fly-through of the Camp EDC campground in 2024. The Ann Arbor Art Fair and other festivals are flown inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Offices and venues suit one-take FPV tours with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Michigan Stadium and campus

Michigan Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. The University of Michigan prohibits outdoor drone flights on or over its property without a written waiver, so campus shoots start with that request well ahead. Inside Crisler Center we fly small drones with the venue's approval. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Ann Arbor, MI live event drones.

Airspace and state law

Ann Arbor Municipal Airport south of the city has Class D airspace while its tower is open, and Willow Run Airport near Ypsilanti adds more controlled airspace to the east. Michigan's Unmanned Aircraft System Act generally prevents cities and counties from passing their own drone ordinances. We check every Ann Arbor location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
