Festivals and concerts

Our crew filmed Megan Thee Stallion's set at Rolling Loud Miami 2021 with a micro FPV drone. Lansing's downtown festivals suit the same one-take FPV inside the organizer's plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Campus and arenas

Michigan State requires an approved operations plan and a written permit for drone flights on its campus, so we file ahead of any East Lansing shoot. Inside the Breslin Center we fly small drones with the venue's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. Spartan Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events.

Airspace and state law

Capital Region International northwest of downtown has Class C airspace from the surface to 4,900 feet within 5 miles during its published hours, so much of the Lansing area needs LAANC or FAA authorization. Michigan's Unmanned Aircraft System Act generally prevents cities and counties from passing their own drone ordinances. We check every Lansing location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

Can you fly FPV inside the Breslin Center?

Yes, with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production.

Can you fly FPV on the MSU campus?

Only with an approved operations plan and a written permit from the university.

Can you fly at Spartan Stadium on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
