Our crew flew an indoor micro-drone fly-through of the Tempo by Hilton hotel in Times Square, through its lobbies and rooms, and has flown more than 15 Charleston-area hotel fly-throughs for Vive Media. Providence hotels, college campuses and downtown venues suit the same one-take approach. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. Rhode Island law and parks
Rhode Island law requires every drone flight to follow FAA rules and bars cities and towns from regulating drone operation unless FAA rules or state law allow it. Rhode Island state parks allow drones only for commercial work with a special use permit, applied for at least 30 business days ahead, and recreational drone use is not permitted. City park and event permits come from the City of Providence and the event organizer, so we check them before any public-space shoot.
Federal sites
Naval Station Newport and the Rhode Island Air National Guard base at Quonset State Airport are federal no-drone areas around the clock. Rhode Island has no venues on the FAA stadium list, but we still check NOTAMs for event flight restrictions. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.
Airspace
Rhode Island T.F. Green International in Warwick, about 6 miles south of Providence, has Class C airspace, so some Providence addresses need LAANC. We check every Providence location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Can you fly drones in Rhode Island state parks?
Only for commercial work with a special use permit, applied for at least 30 business days ahead. Recreational drone use is not permitted in state parks.
Can you film hotel interiors in Providence?

Can you fly near Naval Station Newport?
No. Naval Station Newport is a federal no-drone area from the surface to 400 feet, so we plan Newport shoots well clear of it.

What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
