Live event drones in San Francisco
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in San Francisco. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our San Francisco drone videography page, and for one-take fly-throughs see our San Francisco, CA FPV drone pilot page.
Outside Lands and Golden Gate Park
Our crew has flown the aerial livestream at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park since 2023, inside the festival's production plan. San Francisco Recreation and Park requires a permit for any drone flight on, from or over its property, with a licensed pilot, a $2M aircraft liability policy naming the department, a park ranger on site for at least three hours, and often a straight up-and-down flight pattern unless the operation meets FAA rules for flying over people. Film permits need at least five business days, and filming is generally not allowed in Golden Gate Park on weekends.
Chase Center and Oracle Park
Chase Center, home of the Warriors, hosts concerts and arena events where we fly with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at the arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Oracle Park is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Federal parkland and airspace
Crissy Field, Lands End and other parts of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area are National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. SFO's Class B airspace covers much of the city. We check every San Francisco location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
California privacy
California privacy law makes it an invasion of privacy to enter the airspace above someone's land without permission to capture private or family activity, so we keep homes, yards and people who have not agreed to be filmed out of frame.
