Live event drones in Minneapolis

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Minneapolis. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Minneapolis, MN drone videographer page.

Target Center and First Avenue

Target Center, home of the Timberwolves and Lynx, First Avenue and the city's theaters host concerts where we fly with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Our crew flies EDC Las Vegas as a three-pilot drone team, with over-the-crowd drones fed into the Hulu live stream, and plans large shows here the same way.

U.S. Bank Stadium and Target Field

U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Vikings, and Target Field, home of the Twins, are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly stadium shows only inside an approved production. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Park events

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board requires a permit for all drone flight from, within and on its property, and reviews requests case by case. Applications should arrive at least 10 days ahead with a site plan and detailed flight plan, drone insurance, the FAA pilot certificate and the drone registration. The fee is $100 per day and location, with $1,500,000 of general liability coverage listing the board as additional insured. MSP's Class B airspace covers much of the city. We check every Minneapolis location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

State and local rules

We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
