Sioux Falls, SD Live Event and Concert Drones

Live event drones in Sioux Falls

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Sioux Falls. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Sioux Falls, SD drone videographer page.

Tournaments and broadcast

Our crew flew live broadcast drone work for the T-Mobile 5G Range Show at the 2024 PGA Championship. Tournaments and sports events in Sioux Falls suit the same live coverage inside the production plan. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Arenas and festivals

Inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center and other venues we fly small drones with the venue's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. Festivals are flown inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.

Airspace and state law

Sioux Falls Regional Airport, Joe Foss Field, has a control tower and Class D airspace north of downtown, and the South Dakota Air National Guard's fighter wing is based there. South Dakota law makes it a felony to fly over the grounds of a prison, jail or military facility without the administrator's authorization, and drones may not take off or land on controlled-access highways. Cities may also adopt their own drone ordinances, so we check local rules before each shoot. We check every Sioux Falls location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center?

Yes, with the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and lighting.

Can you fly near the Air Guard base at the airport?

Not over it. South Dakota law makes flying over a military facility without authorization a felony.

What permits do you need for an event in Sioux Falls?

It depends on the venue. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job and get the organizer's written approval.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
