FPV drone pilot in Billings

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Billings for arena show and rodeo content, venue fly-throughs, energy sites and real estate. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Billings, MT drone videographer page.

Arena shows and rodeos

Our crew flew drones inside Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle to film Paramore's 2023 show. We fly arena shows, rodeos and fair events, downtown projects, the Rimrocks, construction progress, energy sites and real estate across Billings. Inside First Interstate Arena we fly small drones with the venue's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Billings, MT live event drones.

MetraPark, parks and Little Bighorn

For MetraPark events we work with the venue and check for any temporary flight restriction before the event. Montana State Parks do not allow drones to launch or operate from public use sites unless Fish, Wildlife and Parks issues a permit. That includes Pictograph Cave State Park. Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.

Airspace and Montana law

Billings Logan International sits on the Rims above downtown under Class C airspace, so most central Billings flights need LAANC or FAA authorization. Montana law also bars interfering with aerial wildfire fighting, including with a drone, and the operator can be billed for the costs. Wildfire temporary flight restrictions can close large areas in summer and fall, and flying into one is illegal. We check every Billings location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Billings?

It depends on the address. Billings Logan International has Class C airspace over most of central Billings. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can you fly in Montana state parks?

Only with a Fish, Wildlife and Parks permit to launch or operate from a public use site. We request it before the shoot.

Can you fly inside First Interstate Arena?

Yes, with the venue's approval. Indoor arena flights use small drones and a set flight plan.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
