We fly festivals, stadium events, campuses, construction progress, film support and real estate across Albuquerque and northern New Mexico. For festivals and events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.
Kirtland, Sandia and the Sunport
Albuquerque International Sunport sits under Class C airspace and shares its runways with Kirtland Air Force Base. Kirtland, which includes Sandia National Laboratories, and Los Alamos National Laboratory to the north are federal no-drone areas, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. Double Eagle II on the west side has its own control tower. We check every Albuquerque location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
Balloon Fiesta and stadiums
During the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta each October, the FAA restricts drones around Balloon Fiesta Park, and the FBI has warned of fines for flying there. University Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events.
Parks, monuments and wilderness
New Mexico State Parks need a commercial film permit applied for well ahead, with aircraft use specifically approved, and some parks ban drones outright. Rio Grande Nature Center State Park in the city bans drones. Petroglyph National Monument includes National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. The Sandia Mountain Wilderness is designated wilderness, where the Forest Service does not allow drones to take off or land.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Albuquerque?
It depends on the address. The Sunport and Kirtland share Class C airspace close to downtown, and Kirtland is closed to drones. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.
Can you fly at the Balloon Fiesta?
No. The FAA restricts drones around Balloon Fiesta Park during the event. We film balloon content from outside the restriction or after it ends.
Can you fly near University Stadium on game days?
Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.
Can you fly in Petroglyph National Monument?
Not on National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited. We shoot from approved sites outside it.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
