Honolulu, HI Live Event and Concert Drones

Live event drones in Honolulu

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Honolulu. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Honolulu, HI drone videographer page.

Concerts, festivals and resort events

Our crew has flown live broadcast and FPV drone coverage at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Honolulu's concerts, festivals and resort events suit the same coverage inside the organizer's production plan, and hotel ballrooms suit one-take interior tours. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Class B airspace and military bases

Daniel K. Inouye International sits under Class B airspace, and Waikiki is inside it, so most Honolulu events need FAA authorization through LAANC. Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam is a no-drone zone, and the military treats Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay and other Oahu installations the same way. Pearl Harbor National Memorial is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. We check every Honolulu location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Beaches and permits

City and County of Honolulu parks and beach parks have their own permit rules for filming, so we confirm city approval before any beach park event. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Do Honolulu events need FAA authorization?

Most do. Daniel K. Inouye International's Class B airspace covers Waikiki, so we file LAANC or FAA authorization first.

Can you fly near Pearl Harbor?

No. Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam is a no-drone zone, and Pearl Harbor National Memorial needs the superintendent's written approval.

Can you fly a beach park event in Honolulu?

Yes, with the city's filming permit and FAA authorization where the site needs it.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
