FPV drone pilot in Portland

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Portland for hotel and inn fly-throughs, Old Port businesses, waterfront events and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Portland, ME drone videographer page.

Hotels, the Old Port and the waterfront

Our crew flew an indoor micro-drone fly-through of the Tempo by Hilton hotel in Times Square, through its lobbies and rooms. We fly hotels and inns, Old Port and waterfront businesses, concerts, coastal real estate and weddings across Portland and southern Maine. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Portland, ME live event drones.

Fort Williams and state parks

Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth does not allow drones within 300 feet of Portland Head Light, and commercial filming there needs the park's prior permission. Maine State Parks and historic sites do not allow drones without a Special Activity Permit, which requires a certificate of insurance, and drones are not allowed on surf beaches from April 1 to September 30. State policy limits commercial use, so we confirm approval with the Bureau of Parks and Lands before booking any park shoot. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.

Airspace and restricted areas

Portland International Jetport sits under Class C airspace, and downtown Portland is inside its surface area, so most peninsula flights need LAANC or FAA authorization. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery is one of the federal no-drone areas, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. Prohibited area P-67 over Kennebunkport is closed to all aircraft, drones included, from the surface to 1,000 feet. We check every Portland location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
