Live event drones in Portland
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Portland. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Portland, ME drone videographer page.
Concerts and the waterfront
Our crew flew aerials for the All Things Go Music Festival at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. We fly hotels and inns, Old Port and waterfront businesses, concerts, coastal real estate and weddings across Portland and southern Maine. For concerts and events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Fort Williams and state parks
Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth does not allow drones within 300 feet of Portland Head Light, and commercial filming there needs the park's prior permission. Maine State Parks and historic sites do not allow drones without a Special Activity Permit, which requires a certificate of insurance, and drones are not allowed on surf beaches from April 1 to September 30. State policy limits commercial use, so we confirm approval with the Bureau of Parks and Lands before booking any park shoot. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Airspace and restricted areas
Portland International Jetport sits under Class C airspace, and downtown Portland is inside its surface area, so most peninsula flights need LAANC or FAA authorization. Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery is one of the federal no-drone areas, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. Prohibited area P-67 over Kennebunkport is closed to all aircraft, drones included, from the surface to 1,000 feet. We check every Portland location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs
Can you film Portland Head Light?
From outside a 300-foot buffer around the lighthouse, with the park's prior permission for commercial filming in Fort Williams Park.
Can you fly over Kennebunkport?
No. Prohibited area P-67 closes the airspace over Kennebunkport to all aircraft, including drones, up to 1,000 feet.
Can you fly in Maine state parks?
Only with a Special Activity Permit, and never on surf beaches from April through September. We confirm commercial approval first.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
