El Paso

FPV drone pilot in El Paso

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in El Paso for concert FPV, venue and hotel fly-throughs, game day content and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our El Paso, TX drone videographer page.

Concerts and game days

Our crew flew drones for the Vans Warped Tour Long Beach live broadcast on Prime Video. Sun Bowl Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see El Paso, TX live event drones.

Venues and downtown

Downtown hotels, restaurants and venues suit one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Fort Bliss and the border

Fort Bliss is a federal no-drone area around the clock, and Biggs Army Airfield there has military airspace. The ports of entry and the federal prison at La Tuna are federal no-drone areas too, and FAA national defense airspace restrictions cover parts of the border. Chamizal National Memorial is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. We check every El Paso location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Texas drone law

Texas law makes it an offense to fly at or below 400 feet over a sports venue with 30,000 or more seats unless an exception applies, such as a commercial flight that follows FAA rules or the venue's prior written consent, so we work with the venue on every stadium event. Texas law also covers fenced or posted critical infrastructure, such as refineries, power plants, water plants, ports and rail yards, at or below 400 feet, with the same kinds of exceptions, so we get the owner's written consent or keep those sites out of the flight path. Texas bars cities and counties from regulating drones except during permitted special events, for their own drone use, or near their own facilities with FAA approval, so we check festival and parade rules with the organizer and the city.

FAQs

Does Texas law limit drones over big stadiums?

Yes. Flying at or below 400 feet over a sports venue with 30,000 or more seats is an offense unless an exception applies, such as an FAA-compliant commercial flight or the venue's written consent.

Can you fly near Fort Bliss or the border?

Not over Fort Bliss or the ports of entry, which are federal no-drone areas, and FAA national defense airspace covers parts of the border.

Can you fly FPV at Chamizal National Memorial?

Not without the superintendent's written approval. It is National Park Service land.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
