Architecture and industry

Our crew filmed aerials of The Independent, the Austin tower known as the Jenga building, for Science Channel's Impossible Engineering, and Tulsa's Art Deco downtown, refineries and riverfront suit the same kind of aerial work. Oklahoma law bars flying a drone below 400 feet over fenced or posted critical infrastructure, such as refineries, substations, water plants, pipelines, rail yards and towers, unless the operator is FAA-authorized for that airspace or has the owner's written consent, and a 2026 law that took effect November 1, 2026 adds criminal penalties. We get the owner's written consent before filming energy and industrial sites.

Stadiums and events

Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium at the University of Tulsa is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Our crew flew live drone feeds for TV and the video board for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park, and drone coverage at Austin City Limits for the festival's Hulu live broadcast. Federal sites and parks

The 138th Fighter Wing's Air National Guard base at Tulsa International is a federal no-drone area around the clock. Oklahoma State Parks require a permit for drone use, applied for through the park manager at least 30 days ahead, and flights are limited to areas the manager designates. City park and event permits come from the City of Tulsa and the event organizer, so we check them before any public-space shoot. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Airspace

Tulsa International, about 5 miles northeast of downtown, has Class C airspace, and Tulsa Riverside Airport, about 5 miles south, has its own control tower, so many Tulsa addresses need LAANC. We check every Tulsa location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Can you fly near Chapman Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you film refineries or substations in Oklahoma?

Only with the owner's written consent or FAA authorization for that airspace. State law bars low flights over fenced or posted critical infrastructure, so we get written consent first.

Can you fly in Oklahoma state parks?

Only with a permit, applied for through the park manager at least 30 days ahead, and only in areas the manager designates.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Tulsa?

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
