Reno

Reno drone videography

We fly casino resorts, special events, university campuses, industrial parks and real estate across Reno and Sparks. For events and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Airports and federal sites

Reno-Tahoe International sits under Class C airspace southeast of downtown, and the Nevada Air National Guard base there is a federal no-drone area, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. Reno-Stead Airport north of the city can have temporary flight restrictions during major events. NAS Fallon and its ranges to the east are federal no-drone areas, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. We check every Reno location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Nevada drone law

Nevada law bars flying within 500 feet sideways or 250 feet above a critical facility, such as a power substation, water plant or prison, without the owner's written consent, and within 5 miles of an airport without the airport's consent or FAA authorization. Property owners can also sue over repeated low flights after notice, so we plan routes with permission and fly with paperwork on hand.

Stadiums and parks

Mackay Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Nevada State Parks do not allow drones unless the park supervisor has designated an area or issued a special use permit.

FAQs

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Reno?

It depends on the address. Much of Reno is within 5 miles of an airport, which under Nevada law also needs the airport's consent or FAA authorization. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can you fly near NAS Fallon?

No. NAS Fallon is a federal no-drone area, and the training ranges around it are restricted airspace. We plan any rural shoots well away from them.

Can you fly near Mackay Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you fly in Nevada state parks?

Only in designated areas or with a special use permit from the park supervisor. We confirm it for every park shoot.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
