Live event drones in New Orleans
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in New Orleans. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our New Orleans drone videography page.
Pop-ups on Bourbon Street
Our crew flew drone content for the John Summit and Dom Dolla Super Bowl week pop-up on Bourbon Street. Pop-ups in the French Quarter mean balconies, tight streets and dense crowds, and the city's film office asks productions to use a drone no more than 3 feet in diameter there, so we fly small aircraft on short, rehearsed lines. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.
Film New Orleans permits
Film New Orleans issues B-roll film permits at no cost for drone filming. It requires FAA-certified operators who follow FAA rules, the operator's FAA license and the drone's FAA registration, a certificate of insurance and a signed copy of its policies and procedures, and a film application filed no later than 4 days before filming. We check every New Orleans location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
Caesars Superdome, Smoothie King Center and Jazz Fest
Caesars Superdome and Smoothie King Center do not allow drones on their property without management's prior written permission, so dome and arena shows are flown only inside an approved production. Indoor flights at an arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Caesars Superdome is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Jazz Fest at the Fair Grounds and other festivals run under the promoter's plan. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Local rules
We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job. Parade season and festival dates bring their own event permits and crowd plans, so we confirm them with the organizer.

FAQs
Do you need a permit to film a New Orleans event with a drone?
Yes. Film New Orleans issues free B-roll permits for drone filming and asks for the operator's FAA license, the drone's registration and insurance at least 4 days ahead.
Can you fly at a French Quarter pop-up?
Yes, with a film permit and a rehearsed flight plan. The film office asks for a drone no more than 3 feet in diameter there, and we keep clear of open crowds.
Can you fly inside Caesars Superdome or Smoothie King Center?
Only with management's prior written permission as part of an approved production, with a flight plan agreed with production and security.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
