Savannah, GA FPV Drone Pilot

Air Views Media flies FPV drones in Savannah for hotels, festivals, arenas, brands and live broadcasts, on in-house micro FPV drones built for flying near people. Our crew flew live FPV to the interior screen of the Sphere in Las Vegas. FAA Part 107 certified pilots carry $10M liability standard (optional up to $25M).

One take down to River Street

FPV can start on a hotel rooftop, drop past the bluff, run along the cobblestones and Factors Walk and finish inside a restaurant on River Street in a single shot. The Plant Riverside District, with its converted power plant and riverfront, suits the same approach. On public streets we work with the City of Savannah's Film and Media office; indoors we only need the owner's approval. See what a one-take fly-through is.

Under the oaks

The squares and Forsyth Park, with its fountain and the Spanish moss overhead, are what most people picture when they think of Savannah. FPV can weave beneath the canopy where a cinema drone can't. Tourists, carriages and trolleys fill the squares by mid-morning, so we fly early, work through the city's film permit process, and keep clear of anyone who isn't part of the shoot.

Arena, ballpark and festival FPV

Enmarket Arena hosts concerts and Savannah Ghost Pirates hockey, Historic Grayson Stadium is home to the Savannah Bananas, and the Savannah Music Festival fills venues across downtown each spring. Our micro FPV drones fly indoors and over stages, and the feed can go live to a truck, a stream or a video board; see FPV for live broadcast and FPV for concerts and festivals.

On the water

FPV is at its best chasing something that moves: a boat on the Wilmington River, a paddleboarder in the marsh or a ship heading up the Savannah River past the Waving Girl statue. We've flown aboard Norwegian Joy for EDSea and filmed the final voyage of the SS United States, so we know how to plan launches and recoveries around boats and moving decks.

Class C, Hunter and permits

Savannah/Hilton Head International has Class C airspace northwest of downtown, and Hunter Army Airfield has Class D on the south side. We check every address on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs, file LAANC or an FAA authorization where it's needed, add the city's drone permit for public locations, and give you a clear go or no-go before the date.

FAQs

Can FPV fly inside Enmarket Arena?

With the venue's approval, yes. Indoor flights don't need FAA airspace authorization, and our micro FPV drones are built for flying near people and stages.

Can you send a live FPV feed to a video board or stream?

Yes. We send live FPV to trucks, streams and video boards, as we did for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park and for Mississippi State football.

Can you film a one-take hotel tour in Savannah?

Yes. A one-take fly-through runs from the entrance through the lobby, bar and rooms with no cuts, the same format we flew for more than 15 Charleston hotels.

Do you need permission to fly in the Historic District?

You may need FAA airspace authorization depending on the address, and filming on public property goes through the city's Film and Media office, which issues a separate drone permit. We file both before the date.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
